What is a breastmilk keepsake?

Each piece is uniquely crafted from a small amount of your own milk, transformed into a stone and set into a piece of jewelry. It’s a tangible, intimate, and deeply symbolic keepsake of your breastfeeding journey.

Are your stones water-resistant?

Since 2025, all of our creations have included our waterproof stone as a standard feature.

Does the stone really contain MY milk?

Absolutely! Each keepsake is made using your own individual milk sample, and only yours. We take great care at every step of the process: each milk sample is carefully labeled, handled separately, and securely stored to ensure no mix-ups or cross-contamination. Your stone is truly unique, personal, and carries the imprint of your story.

How long does production take?

Turnaround times vary throughout the year, but generally, please allow 6 to 12 weeks from the date we receive your breast milk. Each piece is entirely handcrafted with care, love, and attention to detail.

How do I care for my keepsake?

Gently clean your keepsake with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh products, chlorine, and perfumes. Even though our stones are waterproof, gentle care will help preserve their beauty over time.

I’m hesitating between gold-plated and solid gold. What do you recommend?

If your budget allows, we wholeheartedly recommend solid gold (10k, 14k or 18k). This choice ensures a long-lasting piece that will retain its beauty over time. While our gold-plated options are high-quality, they are naturally more prone to wear, friction, and exposure to daily products. Solid gold, on the other hand, is a timeless investment that ages gracefully.

What kind of warranty comes with my keepsake?

Each La Voie Lactée keepsake is a unique, handmade creation crafted from organic materials. While we take the utmost care in creating high-quality pieces, the longevity of your jewelry depends on how it is cared for. As such, we do not offer warranties, except in the rare case of an error on our part (particularly with waterproof stones). All sales are final.

Options

How is the waterproof stone better than the standard one?

Our waterproof stone can be worn with confidence in the shower, while washing dishes, at the pool, or even in a hot tub. It is designed to withstand everyday exposure to moisture.

In addition to being waterproof, this stone is also resistant to UV rays, allowing it to be worn in the sun without concern.

However, care should still be taken with chemicals, perfumes, and dyes—particularly bath bombs, which may affect the surface of the jewelry over time.

Can I have my keepsake engraved?

Yes, engraving is available as an optional add-on ($) for many of our designs,  whether initials, a short name, a meaningful date, or a symbolic word.

Can I choose the finish (color) of my stone?

Yes, absolutely. By default, our keepsakes come with a natural finish, which reflects the unique color and texture of your own breastmilk. If you’d like to further personalize your piece, we offer three other beautiful finish options: Pure White, Pearl or Sparkling. Each finish enhances your stone in its own way, while preserving the natural uniqueness of your milk.

Can I include something other than milk in my keepsake?

Yes! You may choose to include a lock of hair or fur, ashes, placenta, umbilical cord, or even colored flakes. These options are available with several of our designs and can be selected during your order.

Shipping

How do I send my milk?

Once your order is placed, you’ll receive detailed instructions by email on how to send a small sample of your milk (about 5–10 ml is enough). It can be shipped frozen or thawed, in a tightly sealed plastic bag. No preservatives or additives are required.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we accept orders from several countries. Shipping fees apply, and delivery times may vary depending on your location.
